Recognized as one of the best districts in the area, Sharyland Independent School District (SISD) is also one of the fastest-growing school districts in South Texas. SISD is committed to providing an exemplary education to its students across the district, which includes a comprehensive high school, two middle schools, and eight state-of-the-art elementary schools.

We currently have two state-of-the-art elementary schools in Sharyland Plantation, Ruben Hinojosa and Harry Shimotsu elementary school. In August of 2008, B.L Gray Junior High will open their new facility in Sharyland Plantation.

A rigorous curriculum challenges students at all levels and advanced high school seniors are eligible to participate in concurrent enrollment programs, earning college credits with The University of Texas Pan American or South Texas College.

There is also a wealth of higher learning institutions throughout the Valley. The campuses of South Texas University in McAllen and the University of Texas – Pan American are just minutes from Sharyland Plantation

UTPA offers 56 bachelor’s degree programs, 45 masters, 2 doctoral, and one cooperative doctoral pharmacy program. The Princeton Review has listed The UTPA College of Business Administration as an outstanding business school in its recently published “Best 282 Business Schools: 2007 Edition.”

South Texas College, with campuses in McAllen, Weslaco, and Rio Grande City, offers associate degrees and certificates in over 80 different programs and courses transferable to four-year colleges and universities. New programs are developed and implemented based on identified workforce needs established through labor market research.

Texas State Technical College in Harlingen offers over 30 different technical study programs in fields related to business, healthcare, computer technology, and electronics manufacturing and industrial service.

The University of Texas Brownsville campus offers associates, bachelors and graduate degrees in variety of majors and was recognized in US News & World Reports’ “America’s Best Colleges 2007.”
