We have become aware of scammers impersonating Sharyland employees in our service areas that are requesting payment over the phone. Sharyland will never request payment directly from customers to prevent outages or service disconnection, either in person or on the phone. Additionally, Sharyland representatives in the field always carry company identification and will never ask to enter your home. If you ever receive a call from someone or meet someone who claims to work at Sharyland and you are unsure, you can call 800-545-4513 to talk to a Sharyland representative. If ever you fear for your safety, call 911 immediately.
- While Sharyland employees may need admittance to a customer’s property to access an electric meter or power lines running close to the home, Sharyland employees are not permitted to enter a customer’s home and have no need to do so.
- Sharyland will never call a customer or visit their home demanding personal information (Social Security numbers, Driver’s License Number, Banking Information, etc.) or payment to prevent cutting off their electric service.
- If customers are ever unsure about the identity of Sharyland employees, they should call us at 800-545-4513.
Sharyland Utilities believes it is very important to stress safety wherever electricity is present. Electricity is the most common energy source used today, and it is very safe as long as it is treated with respect.
Please take a few minutes to learn or be reminded of how electricity can be harmful if not taken seriously at all times.
